We want Our VISION to be Yours too, which is...

...to instill in every student the desire, motivation, and skill set needed for success in high school and beyond.

In a challenging and changing world, we believe that all students will graduate from our program career and

college ready, able and willing to reach their full potential through academic, career, and character

excellence, and thereby will make a lasting and positive difference in their local and global communities.

We want Our MISSION to be Yours too, which is...

...to provide a comprehensive school counseling program that will allow every student to experience growth

in academic, career, and social/emotional skills-based areas, through classroom instruction, small group

support, and individual counseling. In partnership with students, parents, and the community, students will

develop excellence in scholarly achievements, vocational aspirations, and character development within a

safe and positive environment, so that they are successful and contributing members of the community.

Education

HelloI am the first school counselor at TMHS! A little bit about me...I am a graduate of the following

schools: De Anza College (A.A., Psychology); University of California, Santa Cruz (B.A., Psychology);

California State University, San Bernardino (M.A., Psychology: concentration in Life-Span Development).

In addition to these educational experiences, I will be graduating from Prescott College in December 2020

(M.Ed., School Counseling). I have been state certified as a School Counselor by the State of Arizona since

August 2019.

Work Experience

I am a career educator. I have spent the last 22 years of my life in education, where I have worked in various

areas. I started my career off in the late 1990's working as a university academic advisor, where I spent the

first half of my professional working life. During the second half of that time, I worked as a college instructor,

when I taught students psychology for 10 years. This is my first year at TMHS as a school counselor.

Personal

I am originally from San Jose, California. I have spent much of my professional working life outside of

California, having lived in Arkansas, Kansas, and Ohio. I also spent one year teaching Managerial Psychology

and English in Thailand. I have been living happily in Sierra Vista, Arizona since December 2015. Along with

my wife, with whom I have been married to for 13 years, I have 4 children: ages 3, 7, 10, and 12. My family is

the pride and joy of my life and my greatest accomplishment in life. I enjoy travel, swimming, reading and

writing science fiction fantasy and historical fiction books, and looking at historical photographs, particularly

in the geographical area where I grew up.

Beliefs

I believe that every student can succeed and accomplish great things in life. Everyone has actual and

potential gifts that are just waiting to be tapped! My goal as a counselor is to help students discover and

nurture the talents that they have to offer. I am eager to help every student succeed on their journey while

they are at TMHS. Outside of my family and personal interests, I greatly enjoy meeting and working with all

students to help each one achieve their goals and dreams.
